Incredible US Road Trip

Updated: Mar 2, 2022

It has been quite the year since we were all told to stay home and keep our inner circles small. And being home that much has really been trying for those of us who love to be on the go all the time. This is especially true for people who love to travel! While planning trips has always been stressful, this past year has really added to that stress.

Think about it…

We must stay socially distanced when we are outside our homes.

The outdoors is considered much safer than indoors.

Not all attractions and activities are open due to local guidelines.

And the hoops you must jump through to visit an international destination are not as easy as they appear.

All these things can make it near impossible to know whether what you want to do is something you can do when you are on vacation with your family. And that is what makes the planning part of a vacation a huge struggle.

But there is some good news! I believe that in the very near future, we can wear our masks and experience almost everything available throughout the United States. We are already seeing a few states successfully open up a little more for travelers. And others will do the same as the numbers keep dropping.

The most popular family vacations in the near future are going to be US road trips. And while you might not think that a travel agent can plan US road trips, you will be surprised to hear that we can! The assistance I can provide to you as your travel agent will be more than you ever thought possible. I can easily book your accommodations, research the most exciting places to stop along the way, and even recommend the best restaurants to dine at during your journey. Oh, and I forgot to mention adding amazing attractions to your itinerary and even book your tickets in advance for you!

Helping Our Every J Life with Their Road Trip Along the Pacific Coast Highway

I have many stories I can share about families I have helped with all types of vacations. But when it comes to road trips, the one that stands out in my mind the most is the one I planned for Our Every J Life. If you have never heard of Our Every J Life, they are a traveling family. That means they obviously have the skills to plan a simple road trip. But even they turn to the experts every once in a while. And as their travel agent, I knew I had some big shoes to fill to make sure this road trip was just as fantastic as the rest of their vacations!

One of the major requests from this family was they wanted to do as many outdoorsy things as possible. I can’t say I blamed them, because they were traveling the Pacific Coast Highway along the West Coast. One of the places I had this family stopping at was the Bixby Bridge because it met their outdoorsy goals.

As I was creating the itinerary for Our Every J Life, I made sure to book hotel rooms that were ultra-kid friendly. These hotels even had kids’ clubs, so the kids could have fun while the adults had a little downtime.

Many people love to cram a ton of things into each day when they are traveling. However, I know that when small children and children with autism or other special needs are involved, a slower pace is necessary. That is why I made sure the detailed itinerary I created for this family included options that allowed them to move slowly. They never spent a day rushing from attraction to attraction. Instead, they had the time to fully experience a location before moving on to their next destination.

The final itinerary for the Our Every J Life family was one I felt quite proud about. This family was able to easily adjust their itinerary to fit their needs and didn’t need to follow it to a T. Yes, there were times they needed to be in a specific place to check into a new hotel or utilize their tickets for an attraction. But the rest of their time was spent going at their own pace.

Did they probably miss a couple of things on their itinerary? Yes. Did it bother them? And did they miss those things? No.

I am so grateful that this family chose me to guide them on their road trip down the Pacific Coast Highway. It was a unique challenge to find recommendations in the cities they would be in for each day instead of creating a huge list for one or two destinations. And this is a challenge I will gladly accept again in the future because I want to use the skills I have honed over the years to help families with special needs travel the world.

Our Every J Life is not the only family I have helped plan a road trip for. Another family who comes to mind is the one I planned a camping trip to Alaska for. That was one phenomenal trip, and I was thrilled to be the one that made sure they had a wonderful time.
